Roof Windows for Calverton Bungalows and Lofts
A bungalow with an empty loft often has more potential than it seems. A roof window can brighten the space and, once the structure has been checked, help turn it into somewhere usable, such as a study, bedroom or storage room with proper light. The extra light can also make an unloved space feel like part of the house.
Evans Roofing Services is an independent roofing contractor and is not VELUX-approved. We supply and fit roof windows, including VELUX and other makes, in suitable roofs in Calverton and nearby areas, working from our base in Beckingham.
Checking the roof before the opening
Before deciding on a window, the roof structure and covering need to be checked so the opening is done well. Rafter spacing, loft height and the existing tiles all influence the size and position of the window. On bungalows the roof pitch can be modest, which affects the type of window and how much headroom the room will have.
Building regulations approval may be needed for roof windows and loft conversions, so check with your local council, particularly if you plan to use the room as living space.

Leaks and replacements
Roof windows that leak are usually let down by flashings, disturbed tiles or installation details, though a worn unit may simply need replacing. We investigate the cause first, because a new window in a faulty surround will leak too.
Call or WhatsApp Evans Roofing with photos of the roof and the loft, plus any existing window sizes, and we will discuss what looks suitable and quote. Flashing kits are matched to the tiles on the roof, which is the detail that keeps the opening watertight. We also check the tiles round the frame, because those are disturbed when the window is fitted.

VELUX Roof Windows in Calverton: common questions
Are you a VELUX-approved contractor?
No, we are an independent contractor with no manufacturer approval. We supply and fit VELUX and other makes of roof window, picking a product that suits your roof. A bungalow roof is often a straightforward place to fit one, but we confirm on site.
How many windows could my bungalow loft take?
That depends on the rafter layout, the roof size and how the space will be used. We look at the structure first and then suggest a sensible number and position.
