Do I need new fascias if I only want new gutters?
Not always. If the existing boards are sound, new gutters can be fitted to them, but if they are soft or split it makes sense to renew them first.
Where does the water from my downpipe go?
It should run into a drain or soakaway, so the connection is checked as part of the work. If you suspect a drainage problem, tell us so it can be looked at. If water is running down the wall in a heavy shower, a photograph taken at that moment can show a lot.
