Flat Roofing for Arnold Extensions and Garages: EPDM and GRP
Extensions and garages with flat roofs are common across Arnold's suburban streets, usually added to 1930s semis or bungalows as families needed more space. They are worth checking alongside the main roof, because a small flat section can leak into a kitchen or utility room just as surely as a large one. A flat roof added decades ago may already be on its second or third covering.

Evans Roofing, from Beckingham, fits and repairs flat roofs in Arnold and nearby Gedling, Bulwell, Nottingham and Calverton, using EPDM, felt and GRP fibreglass systems. Each roof is looked at before a method is suggested.
Systems and where they suit
EPDM rubber is a flexible membrane commonly used on suitable flat and low-pitched roofs, and repair work begins with punctures, seams, edges and penetrations. Felt is the traditional option, repaired using methods suited to the product. Small roofs over bay windows and porches are treated the same way and can often be done in a single visit.
GRP fibreglass makes a continuous waterproof finish for suitable roofs, including small awkward ones. Edges and trims are fitted so water falls into the gutter and not behind it. Seams and corners are where it is most important that the work is done carefully.

Flat roof problems to watch for
Ponding water, blistered or split coverings, and damp where the roof meets the house wall are the usual warning signs. The cause might be a failed joint, a worn covering, poor flashing or blocked outlet, and it has to be identified before a repair. On a long bungalow extension, the number of joints and the falls matter as much as the material.
Flat roof work may need building regulations approval, so check locally, and older cement-sheet garage roofs may contain asbestos that should be identified before work begins. Call or WhatsApp with photos of the roof to ask about a quote.

Flat Roofing and EPDM in Arnold: common questions
Does a flat roof leak always mean replacing it?
A localised puncture or failed seam can often be repaired if the rest is sound. Where the covering is worn across its whole area, replacement is the more sensible route.
Why is there a bubble in my roof covering?
Bubbles can be trapped moisture or air under the membrane, or the early sign of a coating failing. They are worth investigating before they split and let water in.
