New uPVC Guttering, Fascias and Soffits in Hucknall
Fitting new uPVC guttering is one of the jobs we are asked about most in Hucknall, and it often comes down to age. The older terraces and post-war houses in the town have had many winters of leaves, frost and ladder knocks, and joints that once held no longer do. Overflowing water running down a wall is a common symptom, and over time it can cause staining and damp that is far harder to fix than the gutter.

We cover Hucknall for guttering, fascias, soffits and downpipes, whether that is one section or the whole roofline. A leaking gutter is rarely just a gutter problem, so the boards and brackets behind it get checked at the same visit.
Starting with the gutter
Overflowing at a corner, dripping at joints or sagging between brackets are all signs a gutter is failing. Sometimes a repair will do, such as refixing a bracket or replacing a damaged length. Downpipes should connect cleanly to the drainage, since splashing at the bottom can wet footings and stain brickwork.
Where the system is worn throughout, a new uPVC run with suitable outlets and brackets directs rainwater into the drainage properly.

When the boards need replacing
If the timber fascia behind has softened, new gutters would be fixed to a weak base. On many houses the neatest answer is a full roofline replacement, covering fascias, soffits, gutters and downpipes together. Because older and newer homes have different eaves details, we plan the fixing to suit the building rather than a standard approach.
Bargeboards and the dry verge at gable ends can be included at the same time. Call or WhatsApp with photos of the problem areas, and we can give you a quote.

Fascias, Soffits and Guttering in Hucknall: common questions
Why does my gutter overflow even when it is clear?
It may be sagging so water cannot reach the outlet, or the outlet may be too small or blocked in the downpipe. Re-aligning the fall or replacing the run usually fixes it. We would look at the fall of the gutter and whether the downpipe is clear before suggesting a remedy.
Do new soffits need holes in them?
Many roofs rely on ventilation at the eaves, and soffits can include it. We fit boards that allow suitable airflow into the roof space. Ventilation matters most where loft insulation has been added, since stale air can lead to condensation in the roof space.
