Flat Roofing in Hucknall: EPDM, Felt and GRP for Garages and Porches
Not every flat roof in Hucknall belongs to an extension. Many of the town's newer estate houses carry short flat or very shallow sections over porches, bay windows and integral garages, and those small areas take a surprising amount of punishment from rain, sun and frost. Because they are low and visible from upstairs windows, they are also the roofs people tend to notice are discoloured or stained first.

We cover Hucknall for flat roofing in all its forms, from fixing a single leak to replacing an entire garage roof. The covering is chosen to suit the building: EPDM rubber, felt or GRP fibreglass. Each material has its place: EPDM is flexible, felt is traditional, and GRP gives a continuous finish.
Why small flat roofs fail first
A porch roof is often a single sheet of felt or a thin membrane laid when the house was built. With little slope to shed water, it can pond, the covering softens and a seam opens, and the first anyone knows is a damp patch in the hall. Where the covering meets the house wall, the flashing or upstand detail decides whether rainwater runs away or finds a path inside.
Older garages elsewhere in the town may have cement-sheet roofs, which can contain asbestos and should be identified before anyone works on them.

Repair or replace
A split seam or damaged edge can often be put right without replacing the roof. Where the whole surface has aged, a new system is better than repeated patching. Garage roofs are usually larger and simpler, and re-covering one can be a good way to stop a slow leak damaging stored belongings.
Building regulations approval may be needed for some flat roof work, so check with your local council. For advice, call or WhatsApp with photos of the roof from above if you can safely get them, and we will quote.

Flat Roofing and EPDM in Hucknall: common questions
Is EPDM suitable for a small porch roof?
It can be, as a flexible membrane that is laid with few joins. On very small or complicated shapes GRP may be easier to finish neatly, and we would advise after seeing it. Sagging, soft decking or old staining on the ceiling below are pointers to a wider failure than a small patch can cure.
Why does my flat roof leak when the membrane looks intact?
Leaks often start at the edges, the joins to the wall or around an outlet rather than in the middle. Tracing it needs a careful look at those details.
