Flat Roofing in Eastwood: EPDM, Felt and GRP for Extensions
Not every roof in Eastwood is pitched. Alongside the older terraces, the later housing brings flat-roofed garages, porches, kitchen extensions and small bay or dormer sections, and these tend to be forgotten until a stain appears on a ceiling inside.

Evans Roofing Services, based in Beckingham, fits and repairs flat roof coverings across Eastwood and the neighbouring towns. Because flat roofs are small compared with a main roof, a good job is mostly about the details, and those are where the time goes. A tidy perimeter, properly fixed trims and clear outlets do more for the life of the roof than the membrane alone.
Which flat roof system?
EPDM is a flexible synthetic rubber membrane, commonly fitted in one piece to suit flat and low-pitched roofs. Felt is the traditional option and is repaired using methods that suit the product, while GRP fibreglass forms a continuous waterproof finish where it is appropriate for the roof.
Older garages with cement-sheet roofs may contain asbestos, which should be identified before any work starts. If you are unsure what material you have, say so when you get in touch.

Edges, outlets and drainage
Most flat roof leaks begin at details, not in the middle of the sheet: a lifted edge, a split seam, a blocked outlet or a poorly dressed upstand against the house wall. A repair looks at those points first, then decides whether patching is enough or the whole covering has reached the end of its life.
Flat roof work may need building regulations approval, so check with your local council. To start, call or WhatsApp with photos of the roof and the ceiling below it.

Flat Roofing and EPDM in Eastwood: common questions
My Eastwood flat roof has water standing on it. Does that matter?
Ponding means the water is not draining off, which shortens the life of most coverings and can point to a sagging deck. It is worth having the roof looked at before the membrane or the boards beneath fail. If the covering is near the end of its life, a fresh EPDM membrane is simpler to fit before the deck is damaged, because the repair gets bigger once the timber is wet.
Can a leaking flat roof be repaired instead of replaced?
Sometimes. A punctured membrane or a failed joint can be repaired if the rest of the covering and the deck are sound, using a method compatible with the existing material. A roof with widespread cracking or soft boards usually needs recovering instead.
