Mansfield Fascias, Soffits and Guttering: Repairs and Replacement
Across Mansfield, a great many houses were built within the same few decades, and their original timber fascias, soffits and gutters are now reaching the same stage. Boards rot at the lower edge, joints open and gutters sag between brackets. The result is water running down the walls and, over time, damp getting into the eaves. Brackets that have worked loose can let a full gutter drop, which is often when people first notice.

Evans Roofing Services replaces and repairs rooflines in Mansfield and the surrounding area, including Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Ollerton. Because the parts depend on each other, we like to look at the whole run before suggesting anything. Where houses date from the same period, neighbours' rooflines often show the same signs, which is a useful nudge to have yours checked.
A new roofline in uPVC
Replacing the roofline all at once usually gives the tidiest result, as the new boards, gutters and downpipes match. On post-war estates this is a common job, and it can be combined with a re-roof when the scaffold is already up. Colour and profile are chosen to suit the house, so the finished roofline looks consistent from the road.
Fascias that have been painted repeatedly can hide splits and soft patches, so we check by touch as well as by eye.

Repairs without a full replacement
Not every problem needs a new system. A leaking joint, a few loose brackets or a cracked section can often be sorted without replacing the lot. A damp or stained soffit under a gutter is a hint that the gutter above is leaking.
On terraces, a blocked or leaking gutter can soak shared walls and the roof edge, so it pays to keep drainage working. Call or WhatsApp with photos of the eaves and the stained wall and we can advise whether a repair will do or the run needs replacing.

Fascias, Soffits and Guttering in Mansfield: common questions
Can new fascias be fitted over rotten timber?
It is not wise, because the new boards need a sound surface to fix to. The supporting timber is assessed and renewed where necessary. If rot has spread into the rafter ends, those are dealt with separately.
How do I know if my soffits need ventilation?
Stale air and condensation in the loft often point to poor airflow. Soffit boards can include vents so that air moves through the roof space. Ventilated boards let air in without spoiling the appearance of the eaves.
