VELUX and Roof Window Installation in Newark-on-Trent
Older brick houses in Newark-on-Trent often have generous roof spaces, and newer homes can hide a useful loft too. A roof window is a neat way to bring daylight into either. Evans Roofing Services is an independent contractor and is not VELUX-approved, but we supply and fit roof windows, VELUX and other makes, for suitable pitched roofs.

On an older roof, fitting a window needs care. Rafters may be old and irregular, slate or clay tile calls for matching flashing, and the opening must be properly supported and sealed. Building regulations approval may apply to work like this, so check with your local council. Many older houses also have a spare attic space that has never been lit properly.
New windows and replacements
For a new window we look at the roof structure, the pitch and what you want the room to be used for. A replacement is easiest when a suitable unit is available, and old frames, seals or flashing sometimes need attention at the same time. The size and position decide how much light reaches the room and how much of the rafters must be cut and supported.

When a roof window leaks
Leaks around a roof window can come from the flashing, the surrounding tiles, the way the unit was fitted or the window itself. Working out which is the first job, because swapping the window will not help if the flashing is at fault. Condensation or staining around the frame may point to a poorly sealed surround, which is worth mentioning.

VELUX Roof Windows in Newark-on-Trent: common questions
Are you VELUX-approved?
No. We are an independent contractor and make no claim of VELUX approval, though we supply and fit VELUX and other roof windows. Your local council can confirm whether building regulations apply to the work.
Can I put a roof window in a slate roof?
Often you can, provided the structure suits it and the flashing is detailed for slate. Slates need careful handling, so the work is planned around the existing covering. Tell us the slate type and age so we can plan the detail.
