Roof Windows in Ruddington: Supply, Fitting and Repairs
Ruddington has cottages with steep roofs, later houses with spacious lofts and extensions that could take a rooflight, so roof windows come up in more than one way. Whether the aim is light for a loft room or a replacement for a leaking unit, the work depends on the roof structure and covering.
Evans Roofing Services is an independent roofing contractor and is not VELUX-approved. From our base in Beckingham we supply and fit roof windows, VELUX and other makes, in suitable roofs across Ruddington and the surrounding villages. If you are unsure whether your roof has the room for one, send us a few photos and a rough idea of the loft height.
Fitting a roof window into an existing roof
A window has to fit between the rafters, or the rafters need suitably altering, and the flashing has to suit the tiles or slates around it. On an older cottage roof, the covering and timbers need particular care when the opening is formed.
Building regulations approval may be needed for roof windows and loft conversions, so check with your local council, particularly if the property is older. Rooflights for flat extension roofs are a separate option and suit kitchens and similar rooms.
- New roof window installation in suitable pitched roofs
- Replacement of older units where suitable products are available
- Flashings to suit the roof covering
- Loft and attic windows for roof rooms
- Flat roof windows and rooflights
- Inspection of window surrounds
When an existing window leaks
Leaks around roof windows may come from the flashing, disturbed tiles, installation details or the unit itself. We investigate before recommending repair or replacement, because swapping a window will not help if the flashing is the real problem.
Call or WhatsApp Evans Roofing with photos of the roof, the loft and the existing window, and we can discuss what is suitable before quoting.

VELUX Roof Windows in Ruddington: common questions
Are you approved by VELUX?
No. We are an independent contractor and make no claim to manufacturer approval. We supply and fit VELUX and other roof windows, and we choose the product to suit the roof and your needs.
Can a cottage roof take a roof window?
Many can, but it depends on the structure, the covering and the amount of headroom inside. We look at the roof and the loft first, and check with the local council where rules may apply. A cold loft can often be made workable, but headroom and insulation need thought.
