Guttering, Fascias and Soffits in Southwell: Replace or Repair
Rainwater goods are easy to overlook until something drips. On an older house in Southwell, worn gutters and tired fascias also change the way the property looks, and replacing them badly can do more harm than leaving them alone.

We fit and repair guttering, fascias, soffits and downpipes across Southwell, Newark-on-Trent, Calverton and Gedling. The aim is to replace worn rainwater goods without upsetting the look of the property. Where the work involves a long run of eaves, we plan it so the lengths join neatly and drain properly.
Doing the roofline in proportion
The size and profile of the new gutters, the colour and the depth of the boards all affect how the house reads from the street. On a character home, we think about proportion and choose components that sit quietly, rather than whatever is most convenient. Deep-profile gutters are not always necessary, and a plain, correctly sized run is often the neatest answer.
Behind the visible parts, the fascia needs to be sound enough to carry the gutter, and the soffit needs to provide proper roof-space ventilation. Both are checked as part of the work.

Repair, realign or replace
Gutters that overflow are often blocked or out of level rather than beyond saving. Realigning them, renewing brackets or replacing a cracked section can be enough. Where the whole system is brittle and leaking at several joints, replacing it is more sensible than repeated repairs.
Photos of the roofline from the ground make it easy for us to see what is going on. Call or WhatsApp them to us and we will arrange a quote. It also helps to say whether you can see staining on the walls below the gutters, which points to a leak at a joint.

Fascias, Soffits and Guttering in Southwell: common questions
Can new guttering be fitted without changing the fascia?
Yes, provided the existing board is sound and firmly fixed. If it is rotten or loose, the gutter will not stay in place for long, so we will advise replacing it at the same time. Screws and brackets are renewed along with it, since old fixings in new boards rarely hold well.
Will new uPVC look out of place on an older house?
It need not. Choosing the right profile and colour makes a big difference, and we can talk through what will suit the property before ordering.
