Roof Inspections in Warsop Before the Next Bad Weather

Chimneys, flashings and guttering on older homes are worth checking before the next bad weather, and Warsop has plenty of them, from older terraced rows to later family housing. A short inspection now is usually cheaper in effort than dealing with a ceiling that has come down. Older stacks, lead work and gutter runs are the places we look first.

Evans Roofing inspects roofs in Warsop, Mansfield, Worksop, Ollerton and Sutton-in-Ashfield for homeowners, landlords and suitable small businesses. We look from the ground, inside the loft and, where it is safe, on the roof. Older terraces often have chimneys and valleys that deserve closer attention than the main slopes.

What an inspection looks at

We check the tiles and slates, ridges, hips, flashings, chimneys, gutters, downpipes, fascias and soffits, and any flat roof areas for membrane condition, joints and drainage. After a storm, we look specifically for displaced tiles and damaged ridges. Flat roof areas get a look at their outlets and edges, which is where trouble usually begins.

A visual inspection has limits. It cannot see beneath coverings or inside walls, and some defects only show once work begins. We would rather say that plainly than overstate what a quick look can tell you. Where suitable, a drone survey may be possible for roofs that are hard to view.

Terraces and rented homes

Terraced rows share walls, stacks and sometimes gutters, so a problem on one roof can affect the next. Landlords with several properties can use inspections to prioritise work. Written-up findings can be useful when talking to tenants or agents.

If a garage has an older cement-sheet roof, tell us, because it may contain asbestos and should be identified before work. Call or WhatsApp to arrange an inspection.

Questions

Roof Inspections and Maintenance in Warsop: common questions

Can you inspect a roof I can see no problem with?

Yes. Many faults, such as lifted flashings or cracked mortar, are hard to spot from the ground. A check can catch them before they cause damp. Cracked mortar in particular is easy to miss until a stain appears.

Will you tell me if nothing needs doing?

Yes. If the roof is in reasonable condition, we say so, and mention anything worth watching. That might be an ageing flashing, a gutter that is starting to sag, or a chimney that should be rechecked next year.
