The roofline on a post-war house has usually had a long stint, and the original timber fascias and soffits are often now flaking, split or swollen. Bargeboards and dry verge systems at the gable ends are renewed at the same time if they are tired too.
Doing the roofline in one go is neater and avoids paying for access more than once. Where only a part is failing, a repair of a section may be enough. The outcome is a straight, clean line along the front of the house.

Common signs
Peeling paint and soft timber on fascias, daylight or birds in the soffit, green stains on the wall under a joint and gutters that drip in dry weather all suggest the roofline needs work. A damp or musty smell in the loft can also be a sign of poor ventilation at the eaves.

Can I replace fascias without touching the gutters?
Sometimes, but the gutters usually have to come off to fit the new boards. It often makes sense to renew them together. A joint-by-joint repair can be a stop-gap on a worn system.
Are uPVC soffits ventilated?
They can be, and we fit them with roof-space ventilation. Airflow helps stop condensation building up in the loft. An open airflow route into the roof space helps the timbers stay dry.
